Why use pellet grills?

Pellet grills are much safer because the lighting of the grill is automatic.  They are healthier because there is no open flame to your food.  They are easier because they are run by the flick of a switch.

Why use BBQ pellets over heating pellets?

BBQ pellets are all natural and made especially for human consumption.  Heating pellets are created and intended for heating purposes only.  They are NOT recommended for human consumption as noted on the packing materials of your heating pellet bags.  Also, BBQ pellets come in a variety of flavors to add to the taste of your meal.

How long have these grills been around?

Traeger grills have been manufactured since 1985, after Joe Traeger's, founder, frustration with gas grill flame-ups made him design a new type of grill.  His mission was to create a new type of grill that was free from flame-ups.  He created these grills from his wood pellet stoves.

What are the capabilities of the grills?

Our wood pellet grills serve four functions on three different speeds:

  • Grill-  Grilling is usually done on High speed.  This temperature is generally 425° - 450°.
  • Smoke-  Smoking is done on the Smoke speed.  This temperature is generally 225° - 250°.  There is an additional accessory for your Lil Tex & Texas Style grill models, which allows cold smoking for cheeses, nuts, or whatever your pleasure.
  • Cook-  Cooking is done on Medium speed.  This temperature is generally 325° - 350°.
  • Bake-  Baking is done on Medium or High speeds, depending on your recipe and/or situation.

** All temperatures will vary pending on weather conditions.

I heard that you can bake on these grills.  Is this true?

Yes you may, please see the above question for a listing of all of your grills capabilities.

How long does it take to heat the grill up?

Normal heating time is 12-15 minutes.  This may vary pending on weather conditions.

What is the maintenance on your grills?

Maintenance is minimal.  Due to the tilted drip pan, grease is drained from the unit into a holding pan.  When the grids are lined with foil, simply change the foil as needed.  You must vacuum the ashes from the inside gully of your grill a few time a year in order to ensure proper grilling.  As for the outside, to keep your grill shiny, you should clean with mild detergent (Dawn dish soap) and wax it every three months.

What payment methods do you accept?

We gladly accept cash, check, or credit cards.  Currently, the credit cards we accept are Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.

On average, how many/much pellets would I use?

The average pellet use is three pounds per grilling session.  This is an average.  If you are cooking hot dogs and hamburgers, you will not use as many as a full day of grilling ribs and steaks.  Smoking also will not use as many pellets as grilling on High.
